Saturday, May 2nd, 1-4 p.m. at Moonlight Mountain Farm, Roxbury VT
SHIITAKEPALOOZA is our annual hands-on workshop where participants learn to cultivate log-grown shiitake at a homestead and small business scale. We cover preferred tree species, spawn types, inoculation tools and technique, and ideal growing environments. This interactive workshop includes a farm/forest walking tour and opportunities for learning by doing. The workshop is led by Nick Laskovski, shiitake grower for 20+ years and contributor to the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education's guide 'Best Management Practices for Log-Based Shiitake Cultivation in the Northeastern United States'. The workshop is held rain or shine at Moonlight Mountain Farm in Roxbury, Vermont. There are limited spaces in the workshop so we can ensure a safe and high-quality learning experience. A $30 workshop fee per person (kids under 12 are welcomed, free, and MUST be registered and supervised at all times) includes the hands-on workshop and a shiitake-inoculated log to take home. Additional shiitake inoculated logs are available for purchase ($20). We look forward to you joining us!
